NOCHE DE PASION - 100 years of the Spanish guitar in one passionate night!
Guitar maestro David Maldonado has teamed up with musical stars, and premier dancers that have appeared on ABC and FOX TVs hit shows Dancing With The Stars® and So You Think You Can Dance®, to take you on a musical journey through Spain, Morocco, Egypt, and beyond. This is a voyage through the evolution of Flamenco Guitar, Classical Guitar, and modern day Spanish Guitar. The “Noche de Pasión” show is the first of its kind in the world, as well as a new type of concert encompassing over 100 years and styles of the Spanish Guitar. Never has any guitarist or dance troupe been able to create a show like this and David Maldonado is honored to bring it to the stage. Maldonado has released 4 CDs worldwide with his latest release, “Angels & Almas”. David created the amazing show “Noche de Pasión” using compositions from his latest CD, to further express the music from his soul in this passionate theater performance.
RICARDO RAMIREZ – Spanish Classical/Flamenco Dancer
Ricardo Ramírez is one of the key choreographers for the highly regarded Spanish dance company, “Cuadro Español”. The company has created educational television films, teaching videos, ballets and operas, while performing throughout California. Ricardo is a Flamenco Dance instructor and teaches out of his academy Academia de Arte Flamenco, located in Fresno, CA. DAVID MALDONADO - Musical Director/Creator
Raised in a family where playing music was as natural as breathing, David’s early influences encompassed a broad range of music, most notably Classical & Flamenco. By the age of eight, David was already an accomplished violinist, immersed in the Classic world of Bach and Mozart. When he was ten, David’s father gave him his first and only guitar lesson. That lesson awoke in him a passion that has never wavered. By the age of fourteen, David was performing classical guitar concerts at the University of Arizona and won numerous awards. The sounds of his childhood, Bach, Mozart & Vivaldi, complemented by Spanish masters such as Sabicas and the Romeros, inspired David to explore and perfect a broad range of musical techniques and styles. JULIE PEREZ - Executive Producer
Entering the world of entertainment management in 2008, Julie has already worked closely with multi-platinum selling artists and core members of QUIET RIOT, MR. BIG, SLAUGHTER, & TRAIN.As an integral figure in the creation and conception of “Noche de Pasion”, Julie comes with many talents ranging from booking agent, publicist, record label executive, and road manager. Julie is currently working with David Maldonado for a world tour.
LINDA CEVALLOS – Dancer/ Main Choreographer
Linda Cevallos, who obtained her Bachelors degree from the prestigious school, California Institute of The Arts is a choreographer, dancer, television host and actor. Working in television, film, commercials and theater, Linda has performed with numerous artists including Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Reba McEntire and is currently on tour with Smokey Robinson. Some of her film credits include Rent, The Antoine Fisher Story, Rock Star and She-Bat. She has guest starred on numerous television shows, Dancing With The Stars, Eli Stone, Just Jordan and "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide" just to name a few. You can also find Linda hosting an online show for DW drums called DW Artist Access.
KATIE MILLER - Dancer
Katie Miller has performed all over the globe on TV, commercials, award shows, theater, and film. A few of the Artists include Liza Minelli, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Usher, Courtney Love, Prince and Latin superstar Chayanne. She was a part of building the Spice Girls reunion tour. Movies include Walk Hard, Fired up, & Year one, with Jack Black and has done choreography for Charo, Wii commercials, build guitar, high school musical, & currently teaches on Hollywood Connection dance convention.
TIMO NUÑEZ – Flamenco Dancer
Coming from long roots of Spanish heritage, Timo began dancing at the early age of seven and quickly began to excel as a young professional performer with a well known Flamenco Company. Timo was featured as “America’s Number One Flamenco Dancer” on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance and has been seen in feature films, television shows, commercials and music videos. Some of his credits include the feature film RENT, ALIAS, CARMEN, LUISA FERNANDA and LA TRAVIATA with The LA Opera, & CHARO Las Vegas. CRISTINA HALL – Flamenco Dancer
Born and raised in San Francisco, California, Cristina Hall began her artistic formation at School of the Arts High School, not as a dancer but as a violinist. Shortly after her move to Seville, Spain, she commenced her studies with acclaimed flamenco artists Eva Yerbabuena, Antonio Canales, & many others. Cristina was the Artistic Director/Choreographer in her show “El Sonido Del Silencio” touring & receiving standing ovations. Cristina’s great passion with Flamenco lies in performing & teaching regularly in Spain and throughout France, Italy, Canada, Belgium, Ireland, & the U.S.
YAEL – Drums/Percussion
Independent drummer Yael started playing drums in New York City as a teenager opening up for such acts like Motörhead, Iron Maiden, King Diamond, and Anthrax. She also performed with members of Arrested Development, Alice in Chains, and Fishbone, during Lollapalooza which lead to a US tour with Fishbone. Residing in Los Angeles now, Yael has toured the world with her passion and creativity on the drums. TINA GUO – Cello
Tina Guo has appeared as a soloist with many orchestras internationally, including the San Diego Symphony, Mexico National Symphony, & the Barra Mansa Symphony in Brazil. She played at the American Country Music Awards with Carrie Underwood and performed at the Grammy Awards with the Foo Fighters, as well as the MTV Movie Awards, American Idol, and Dancing with the Stars with Santana. Tina was featured on Al. B Sure's new single, "I Love It" from his 2009 release. She is also the featured cello soloist for Hans Zimmer's score for "Sherlock Holmes," & John Debney's "Iron Man 2" score along with Bill Brown's CSI:NY score. www.tinaguo.com
NAM CHI VU – Bass Guitar
Classical/jazz bassist Nam Chi Vu has been singing since she was 12, playing electric bass guitar since she was 13, acting since she was 14, and playing upright bass since she was 16. Her background consists of several genres from classical, jazz, rock, to pop. She has shared the stage in master classes with Victor Wooten to rocking out with Chicago-based band Veruca Salt and collaborated on recordings involving the Gipsy Kings. www.namchivu.com
SYLVIA VILLAVICENCIO – Flamenco Dancer/Poet
Sylvia Villavicencio has danced at various locations in the Tijuana & San Diego areas, from theaters, to the famed BULLRING OF MEXICO. Sylvia dedicates much of her spare time to creating oil paintings of flamenco dancers, as seen through the soul of a dancer. Flamenco is never far from her heart.
